How You Can Choose To Be Happy And Live Life With A Sense Of Humor
Life sometimes seems hard, it’s not always fun, there are disappointments, there are scary events and people aren’t always who you think they are. Not only that, but time seems to be hurrying up – faster than ever before, so it’s good to remember…breathe deeply, stay present, take life slowly and with a sense of humor.
How can you live life with a sense of humor, especially when you have problems, some of which may seem insurmountable? The answer is to find a different way of looking at them, and make an effort to find humor in situations.
A good example of this would be times when friends or family members fail to help you when you ask, even though you have unselfishly helped them many times before.
It’s helpful to remember that whenever you choose to do a good deed for another person, you should never expect anything in return. Otherwise, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. This is because many people you help will not return the favor. Sometimes they will, but you can’t count on it, so don’t set yourself up expecting them to what you would do, when that may never happen…When you choose to help someone, do it because it feels right and because it’s the right thing to do.
It’s your choice…
Remember it’s your life, it’s your path, it’s your choice, and your choice is your responsibility and it’s not the responsibility of anyone else. If it is your choice to do a certain thing, answer “yes”, and if something about it feels wrong, answer “no”. Then follow your inner guidance expecting nothing in return. Sometimes you may be pleasantly surprised when someone does something helpful for you in return, but at least, you’re not setting yourself up for disappointment, you’ve made your choice..
Sometimes though, even after taking the precaution of not expecting anything in return, you may still feel disappointed when people you’ve helped don’t help you. At times like these, when you ask them for help and they answer that they’re too busy, or some such thing, their answer seems unfair, unjust and not right. Then, you may feel stung. It’s natural to feel that way and to some degree, unavoidable. Then, if you want, you can contact me for an Angel Reading.
In fact, the way you feel is the way you feel. It’s okay to feel that way for a certain amount of time. You’re feeling hurt because you were feeling vulnerable. To not recognize this would be tantamount to going into denial and that doesn’t serve you.
The fact is, it does hurt when people refuse to help and act insensitive. It causes you to feel uncared for, unloved and dismissed. So go ahead and feel a bit let down, but then it’s time to move on.
Finding humor…
In order to move on, after you have indulged your feelings for a while, it helps to find the humor the situation. It may take a little doing, but in most cases, you can do it. Remember, from a certain vantage point almost anything can seem funny and in a Spiritual Counseling session, you can receive the help you need to put life back into perspective.
For instance if you were watching the same type of situation you just experienced depicted in a funny movie, the complete absurdity of the situation would be highlighted, and the character who had received help not being willing to lift a finger when asked would appear so ridiculous it’s funny.
In thinking about your own situation from a funny perspective, you can simply laugh it off, and your laughter will clear away a good deal of your tension and some or most of the hurt.
A funny movie that comes to mind is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Lots of unfair, and unjust situations occur in the movie, but they seem so ridiculous, you will yourself laughing and having a wonderful time. Why not have a wonderful time in your own life? It’s all a vast screen of entertainment anyway, you might as well find a happy, joyful way to view it.
It’s helpful to know you can actually choose which emotion serves you best. Do you want to be sad, or do you want to be happy? Either is possible. It’s your choice.
Which emotion will you choose?
Whether it’s a person or a situation that is leaving you feeling gloomy, you have the power to turn it around and be happy which is what I like to do…I prefer happiness, and in order to be happy, I choose to laugh. Laughter is clearing. Laughter is angelic. Laughter helps heal our bodies, our emotions and helps to keep us sane.
Some people choose anger when they feel slighted and they hate others and make them wrong. You may have done this yourself once in awhile. The problem with this is that by choosing anger, you never feel better, and you always feel badly. After awhile, the negative emotions start eating you up. You stop being happy, and you start feeling obsessed.
On the other hand, when you choose to take whatever situation you’re faced with, and turn it around in your mind until you see the humor in it, you will find yourself laughing, feeling good and enjoying life.
Then, through happy thoughts and emotions, you start to feel one with yourself. Your health improves. Your mind feels clear, and feelings of happiness spontaneously well up in your heart. Life becomes a joy.
