How To Remember Your Dreams
In my last blog post I talked about the Importance of Remembering and Understanding Your Dreams, today I’ll talk about how to remember them.
Although many people do not place much importance in their dreams, in fact, remembering and deciphering dreams provides a wealth of information and guidance that can genuinely help people navigate successfully in their lives.
In much of our society, huge numbers of people very rarely, if ever, remember their dreams. When they do remember their dreams, they tend to recall it for a moment, then quickly, decide the dream didn’t make sense, then blow it off, and forget about it completely. The reason they blow the memory of dreams off so quickly is because, since they don’t recognize dreams as important anyway, they choose to just let them go and turn their minds to other things.
While such is the case with most modern day people, the truth is, dreams are very important, they contain loads of valuable information, and can truly help people in their lives.
Learning to remember your dreams…
But how can you learn to remember your dreams, especially if you haven’t remembered any of your dreams in years?
One of my students in the weekly Spiritual Awakening classes that I conducted in my home for 9 years, was a 65 year-old woman we’ll call Sylvia, who told me that she believed she definitely did not dream, and hadn’t had any dreams she could remember for at least 30 years. After I taught her a very good method of remembering her dreams, however, when she came to class the following week, she told me she was able to not only remember a dream, but she could remember it in detail!
The dream was in the form of a cartoon, and because it seemed silly to her, she hesitated to tell me and the class what she had dreamed. She was certain it held no meaning. But after I told her that her dream would of course have significance, she shared it with us.
As she told the dream, and we all listened, I quickly saw the significance of the symbols and images within the dream, and was able to decipher all the symbols and images with no problem. As I did this, with the Angels’ help, Sylvia smiled in delight. Her cartoon style dream, far from being insignificant, contained very interesting and helpful messages that were not only informative for her, but comforting as well.
Contacting Your High Self By Remembering Your Dreams
First, get a new spiral notebook for the purpose of what will turn out to be your new dream-journal.
I recommend that you use a new spiral notebook because it will give you plenty of room to write your questions and your dreams. I do not recommend a pre-printed dream journal because pre-printed dream journals virtually never have enough room to write the entirety of your dreams. The space they offer is far too limited.
Next, find a quiet, private spot perfect for meditation thought and prayer.
You can sit on a chair or on a blanket on the floor—whichever is most comfortable for you.
Spend some time in prayer and deep breathing in order to get your mind and body into a relaxed state.
Prayer will allow you to center yourself, experience inner peace, and prepare yourself to confer with God, the Angels and your own High Self.
Taking a few deep breaths will help calm your mind and body.
Now, think of a question that you would like to ask of your High Self, and write the question down in your new spiral notebook.
To begin with, I recommend that you ask a very simple question such as, “Do I need to buy more sheets for the bed?”, or, “Should I change out the type of shampoo I’m using?” These are examples of trivial questions that are perfect to start with as you hone your skills in remembering and deciphering your dreams.
Finish your prayer and meditation as you choose. Whenever you meditate, always start with a prayer to God, and end with a prayer to God. Doing so will help to ensure that the guidance you receive is coming from God and the good Angels, and not from lower beings.
When you go to bed at night, have your spiral notebook and a pen or pencil with you. Now, read the question you wrote earlier that day, and consciously ask your own High Self to reveal the answer to your question. If you didn’t write a question down earlier in the day, do it now. The point is, you want to write down a question to encourage your High Self to communicate with you by answering the question.
When you wake up…
When you wake up, remind yourself to recall any dreams your may have had. The key to doing this is to stay in the position you woke up in. Allowing yourself to remain in the position you woke up in will help you remember whatever dream you had while in that position.
Any image, color, person, or scene that you recall is important, and you should write it down.
When you start to remember your dream in the position you woke up in, go ahead and allow yourself to recall as much as you can. At that point, roll over and change your position, and in that position, allow even more memories about the dream to come to you.
Try to do all this before you go to the bathroom. This will help you to remember more details about the dream. If, however, you just can’t wait, get up and go to the bathroom with one eye closed in order to stay in a relaxed and dreamy mental state. Do not look at a clock or into the mirror while up, because doing so would get your mind on other things, and you’d likely forget your dream. Keep your mind on the dream.
Then go back and write out your dream. If you heard words inside of your dream, write the quotes down first. This way, you’re more likely to actually remember the quotes, and then, by the time you get to the part of the dream where the words fit, you can simply insert the quote in that location.
Quotes are important in dreams…
When you hear them, the quotes often offer specific answers and direction. Quotes, in dreams, are very powerful. That is the reason you want to write them down first. When you write them down right away, you will have them recorded. When you don’t write them down immediately, they often slip your mind.
After you get your dream written down, go back and read the question you asked initially, and then re-read your dream. Try to understand symbolically how the dream answers your question. If you choose, within an Angel Reading, we can do that together and I can help you understand the message your High Self is trying to tell you.
In fact, I love to help people understand their dreams. Dreams are fun and interesting. They are magical and otherworldly. They are fascinating! Many clients tell me about their dreams within their Angel Readings, and I help interpret the dreams and discover the messages held therein.
When you work with your High Self through dream-work, your High Self will lead you and give you advice. For instance, if you ask a question like, “Should I change my brand of shampoo?”, you may find out that your dreams indicate that you should make the change. Following up and doing so is an important part of the process, When you follow up by doing what your High Self has guided you to do, you will encourage your High Self to communicate with you even more. Then, in this way, you will become better and better and begin heeding the important guidance of your High Self.
If you do not remember any dream at all, continue to ask the question every night, and then, when you wake up, do your best to remember. After you have a dream and have written it down, you are ready to write another question for your High Self to answer in your next dream. You can continue this method of communicating with your High Self as long as you want. In fact, you can fill up one or many spiral notebooks. Doing so becomes extremely interesting as you go back and reread your dreams.
As you do this, you’ll discover that many patterns and symbols show up again and again. Through this method of communing with your High Self, you learn things about yourself and your spiritual path that you might otherwise never have noticed. It makes you feel more secure with yourself and more certain about the life path that God, the Angels and your own High Self are directing you into.
Many people who come to me for Angel Readings ask me what their life purpose is. Paying attention to messages from their dreams and their High Selves will help them understand the answer to this very important question.
